The orange body guides the rope through a gripping channel. Pull the free end to adjust the rope; once seated, the cleat holds it in place.
A G hook at the body and an S hook at the rope end give you two connection points. The rope between them lets you choose the length your task needs.
This is a manually adjusted rope system. The self-locking feature holds the adjustment; it does not wind the rope for you.

I'm using two of these to hang out 80lbs 15ft long sit on top kayak. I was able to thread the rope through the drainage holes to hang it without the kayak adaptor. Works fantastic! A solid build product and the solution I was hoping it would be.
It gets an A++ in my ranking scale. Once threaded the rope and made the knots where they were supposed to be and hooks in place using the instructions, I had my doubts as to whether I was going to be able to lift my kayak by myself, but I did. It took a good pull, but I was not straining and pulled down on the rope to lock it in place. I have solved my problem of having to find a strong person to help me lower and raise my kayak every year. Now I can actually raise it in the garage when I’m done with it for the day. It is not in the way all the time getting knocked by the car door. At the end of the season, I’ll hoist it up and add the slings I made before and I can do it all myself.
With in a few minutes of getting my Self-Locking Rope I had my storage problem solved. I used two of them to store my artificial Christmas tree in the garage rafters and I don't have to get on a ladder and balance the tree and myself. Two Tie Boss and I easily lifted it to it’s off season resting place
Worked exactly as described. I hung our 2 bicycles from the ceiling of our shed. Installation was easy, hoisting the bikes was easy. I chose to lock the rope in place, even tho I will have to use a ladder to unlock the rope. Just my own preference. 5 stars!
Bought the 1/4" Self-Locking Rope to hang up electric bikes. I didn't want to hang them upside-down by the tires like traditionally done and they are really heavy. After swapping out the hangers for eye bolts and adding a pulley to cut the weight, I felt a bit like a pirate... hoisting the main sails. Smooth, effortless and locked in place when released. I should have bought these the first time I saw them.
Great product, glad I got 8 cleats; 3 sets for the bikes and I have no doubt the last set will work just as well for the sea kayak.
Needed some device to hang my to Kayaks in my 8 foot crawl space . Add came on my FB feed and I couldn't believe that this is what I needed. Fantastic!
So far so good. Lifted 22lbs of wet grain (approximate initial weight of 66lbs) out of kettle full of wort. This is a brew in the basket homebrew system and I like the ability to use one hand when I need to place the brackets under the basket.
I would suggest the exhibits on your instructions be larger. It was not evident/clear how to install the g-hook to the tie bossdue to small size. Alternatively, direct to installation video.
Happy with my purchase, product works great for my use. Very easy to install made one modification to fit my needs.
Thank you for providing great product!
I needed an easy way to store our bikes on the ceiling in the garage, yet easily able to raise and lower them by myself. I couldn't have found a better product. These were great!!!!
Really awesome product this works perfect for my application cinching my wheelchair down in the bed of my Tacoma, with having Beckers Muscular Dystrophy I need one hand to hold the truck for fall prevention so being able to one hand cinch and lock is a hell of a life saver this effect replaces all my rachet straps!
I went on a recent camping trip and was looking for a way to secure my ARB awning which is mounted on the side of my little adventure trailer. I had looked at some fancy expensive options, then decided to make my own. I used the Self-Locking Rope hook wrapped around the awning pole at the top, then fastened the other end to a 21" rubber bungee cord and from there to my 10 1/2 lag bolts that I built as heavy duty tent spiked. It worked perfectly and my awning was secure the entire time we camped. Thanks Tie Boss for an awesome, affordable product!
Purchased 6 tie boss for 3 paddle boards.
I can raise and lower then by myself without a ladder and very little effort on my part. So much better than ratchet straps.
I have a large ladder. It was a huge pain to hang it and take it down. Thought I would try this, and I can't emphasize how happy I am with this purchase. It took little time to set it up, and it worked exactly as I hoped. Love this!!
