A simpler way to secure your gear

    Pull it snug.
    Let the cleat
    hold the rope.

Skip the tie-off after every adjustment. A self-locking rope kit helps you secure everyday gear and make more use of your storage space.

Pull to adjust. Let the cleat hold. Release when you need to move things again.

One kitOrange cleat + two hooks

    Less tying. More doing.

A small kit for practical jobs.

    01 / ADJUST

Set the tension with a pull.

Draw the rope through the cleat to take up slack. You control the position and tension, rather than tying a fresh knot for each adjustment.

    02 / HOLD

    The cleat keeps your setting.

The rope seats in the locking channel. Its gripping shape holds the adjustment while the hooks connect the rope setup to suitable attachment points.

    03 / RESET

Change the setup when you need to.

Support the item, release the rope from the locking channel and reset the length. Follow the supplied instructions for your particular setup.

    Understand the mechanism

    The useful part
    is in the cleat.

The orange body guides the rope through a gripping channel. Pull the free end to adjust the rope; once seated, the cleat holds it in place.

A G hook at the body and an S hook at the rope end give you two connection points. The rope between them lets you choose the length your task needs.

This is a manually adjusted rope system. The self-locking feature holds the adjustment; it does not wind the rope for you.

Two-kit storage example. One purchase contains one orange rope kit; mounting anchors are separate.

    See the setup in motion

    From floor space
    to storage space.

The garage demonstration shows two rope kits working at separate attachment points. Watch how the rope is pulled to adjust the position, then released in a controlled way.

    1. Plan your attachment pointsChoose suitable anchors and check the item and the complete setup against the supplied instructions and load markings.
    2. Pull to set the positionConnect the hooks, guide the rope and take up slack until the item is in the intended position.
    3. Check, then release carefullyCheck the rope is seated in the cleat. Support the item before guiding the rope out to adjust or lower it.

    A useful place for everything

    Keep your working
    space working.

Make room around the gear you use. The adjustable rope and compact cleat can form part of a storage or tie-down setup suited to the task.

Choose the number of kits and anchors for the whole setup. A two-point arrangement uses two separate kits, as shown in the garage example.

    Before you choose

    A few useful answers.

    Does it tighten itself automatically?

You pull the rope to set the tension. The self-locking cleat holds the rope after you stop pulling; there is no motor or automatic winding mechanism.

How long is the rope, and which version am I buying?

This listing is for the orange, 15-foot rope kit in the 1/4-inch format. It is one kit, with an orange cleat, rope, one G hook and one S hook.

How do I release or adjust it?

Support the item first, then guide the rope out of the locking channel as shown in the supplied instructions. Keep control of the rope while adjusting. Re-seat it in the cleat after setting the new position.

Does the ladder demonstration use one kit?

The garage demonstration uses two separate kits to support a ladder at two points. Each purchase on this page contains one kit. Anchors and any additional kits are separate.

What should I check before using it?

Inspect the rope, hooks, cleat and anchor points. Follow the instructions and load markings on the delivered kit, keep the rope away from sharp or hot surfaces, and never use it to support a person or suspend items over people or animals.

I'm using two of these to hang out 80lbs 15ft long sit on top kayak. I was able to thread the rope through the drainage holes to hang it without the kayak adaptor. Works fantastic! A solid build product and the solution I was hoping it would be.

It gets an A++ in my ranking scale. Once threaded the rope and made the knots where they were supposed to be and hooks in place using the instructions, I had my doubts as to whether I was going to be able to lift my kayak by myself, but I did. It took a good pull, but I was not straining and pulled down on the rope to lock it in place. I have solved my problem of having to find a strong person to help me lower and raise my kayak every year. Now I can actually raise it in the garage when I’m done with it for the day. It is not in the way all the time getting knocked by the car door. At the end of the season, I’ll hoist it up and add the slings I made before and I can do it all myself.

With in a few minutes of getting my Self-Locking Rope I had my storage problem solved. I used two of them to store my artificial Christmas tree in the garage rafters and I don't have to get on a ladder and balance the tree and myself. Two Tie Boss and I easily lifted it to it’s off season resting place

Worked exactly as described. I hung our 2 bicycles from the ceiling of our shed. Installation was easy, hoisting the bikes was easy. I chose to lock the rope in place, even tho I will have to use a ladder to unlock the rope. Just my own preference. 5 stars!

Bought the 1/4" Self-Locking Rope to hang up electric bikes. I didn't want to hang them upside-down by the tires like traditionally done and they are really heavy. After swapping out the hangers for eye bolts and adding a pulley to cut the weight, I felt a bit like a pirate... hoisting the main sails. Smooth, effortless and locked in place when released. I should have bought these the first time I saw them. Great product, glad I got 8 cleats; 3 sets for the bikes and I have no doubt the last set will work just as well for the sea kayak.

So far so good. Lifted 22lbs of wet grain (approximate initial weight of 66lbs) out of kettle full of wort. This is a brew in the basket homebrew system and I like the ability to use one hand when I need to place the brackets under the basket.

I would suggest the exhibits on your instructions be larger. It was not evident/clear how to install the g-hook to the tie bossdue to small size. Alternatively, direct to installation video.

I went on a recent camping trip and was looking for a way to secure my ARB awning which is mounted on the side of my little adventure trailer. I had looked at some fancy expensive options, then decided to make my own. I used the Self-Locking Rope hook wrapped around the awning pole at the top, then fastened the other end to a 21" rubber bungee cord and from there to my 10 1/2 lag bolts that I built as heavy duty tent spiked. It worked perfectly and my awning was secure the entire time we camped. Thanks Tie Boss for an awesome, affordable product!

I have a large ladder. It was a huge pain to hang it and take it down. Thought I would try this, and I can't emphasize how happy I am with this purchase. It took little time to set it up, and it worked exactly as I hoped. Love this!!
